Becky & Tom celebrated their Wedding with us earlier this year and here our Bride tells her story of planning her big day with us at The Nottinghamshire.

“Tom proposed on our 6th Anniversary. He whisked me away to a hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon, booked a fancy meal and popped the question in our hotel room just before we headed down.”

The couple started looking at venues just a couple of weeks later and our excited Bride to be couldn’t wait to start planning for the big day!

“The Nottinghamshire was the first venue we looked at. It had been recommended by a friend and we fell in love at first sight. We were really apprehensive before our first viewing as we thought it would be way out of our budget but it was by far the nicest with the most helpful staff. We looked at two other venues that we’d already made appointments for after the Nottinghamshire but they didn’t even come close.”

The couple then booked in April 2014 for their Wedding a year later, on Saturday 11th April 2015 – the same day as the famous Grand National, which provided inspiration for their wedding favours, showing the race on the big screen in the lounge area for their excited guests.  They also found inspiration from visiting wedding fayres, magazines and our favourite – Pinterest.

With our wedding being a spring wedding, I knew I wanted a pastel shade colour theme. When we went bridesmaid dress shopping I just fell in love with the mint colour and absolutely love how well it all worked on the day.”

“At our church rehearsal, the vicar told me to just enjoy the four minutes it should apparently take to walk down the aisle. However, I wanted to run down it! I really wish I had remembered more of that walk and took it a bit steadier, but I really couldn’t wait to be with Tom. The service seemed to go really quickly. I loved the hymns we chose, however not many people sung and so we wish we had hired the choir. When it came to the best man giving the rings, he did the typical ‘oh poo, where are they’ joke, which all our guests found hilarious – the vicar on the other hand, didn’t!”

“Oh the photos! The Nottinghamshire has so many great photo opportunities with such stunning backgrounds. Our favourite has to be the willow tree shot, closely followed by the shot we had with the lake and fountain in the background.

Martin, our photographer, was very relaxed and friendly. His work was outstanding and we just knew he was the man we wanted to capture our day, at such a reasonable price. His after care has also been incredible and we cannot thank him enough.”

“We can honestly say we enjoyed every minute of our day. From the moment we woke up, til the minute we fell asleep, it really was a dream come true. However, one particular moment for me, other than saying our vows, was when we gathered all our guests in a circle for the last dance. All of our friends and family were gathered around us, holding hands, as we played Take That’s ‘never forget’. We then danced in the middle, and when the chorus came on, all our guests held their hands up and sang along. It was absolutely perfect and at the end of the song our parents and siblings came and joined us in a group embrace.”
